Measures for the employee against exposure to hazardous substances

Before you begin

• First read the label and/or the safety information sheet, including what to do in case of emergency. 
• Make sure that there are never more hazardous substances present at the work place than are necessary for one working day. 
• Keep hazardous substances separate from each other. 
• Ensure that the packaging can not leak.
• Secure the packages in the vehicle. 

During the work

• Wear the required personal protective equipment.
• Ensure adequate ventilation. 
• Keep hazardous substances in suitable packaging, preferably the original packaging. 
• When repackaging, ensure the new packaging carries an appropriate label. 
• Clean up substances which have been spilled immediately according to the instructions on the label and/or the safety information sheet.
• Mix hazardous substances only according to the supplier’s instructions.
• Never eat, drink or smoke whilst working with hazardous substances.
• Wash your hands before you eat, drink or smoke or go to the toilet.

When the work is finished

• Ensure that the packaging cannot leak.
• Secure the packages in the vehicle.
• Remove residues, used materials and packaging as hazardous waste.

In case of emergency

• Follow the steps which are described on the label and/or safety information sheet.
• In the event of an accident take the labels and/or safety information sheet with you to the doctor.
