Measures for the organisation against exposure to contaminated soil in event of emergency

Measures for the organisation against exposure to  contaminated soil in event of emergency

  • As much as possible, avoid work being performed where there is soil contamination.
  • Ensure that your employees know what an urgent problem means.
  • Ensure that your employees are regularly trained on the subject of 'contaminated soil'.
  • Check whether the planned materials (cables and piping) are suitable for use in the heavily contaminated soil.
  • Ensure that your employees have the correct personal protective equipment.
  • Always take discontinued working activities and employees’ complaints seriously.
  • Afterwards report the possible presence of soil contamination to the owner of the land and to the competent authority (province or municipality) and draft this report as quickly as possible in writing.
  • Ensure that employees who assist with (extremely) urgent problems in the soil are checked annually (PMO).
  • Register the employees for each case who have worked in contaminated soil.
