Measures for the organisation when lifting and carrying

  • Select alternative work methods and handling devices which reduce or avoid the necessity of lifting and carrying. 
  • Ensure that lifting is at a minimum for example by adjusting the logistics flow.
  • Replace heavy object with lighter variants.
  • Adjust heavy objects so that they do not have to be carried. 
  • Ensure the minimum possible peak load.
  • Replace lifting and carrying as far as possible with pushing and pulling.
  • Provide information and instructions about risks and measures concerning lifting and carrying and the use of handling devices.

Action Limit (AL-value)
Values under this limit are acceptable and create little risk for work related health complaints. 
 

Maximum Action Limit (MAL-value)
Values between AL en MAL values are acceptable under certain conditions, measures must be taken in the action plan. Values above the MAL values are unacceptable.
